Weather
We finally have some snow coming! In town, we are expecting 10cm throughout the course of the day, which is good news as I think everyone will agree the resort is feeling a little spirng like. The wind will prevail from the southeast this morning, shifting around to the north west around lunchtime, gusting up to 20km per hour on the peaks.
Temperatures are currently sitting at 0 degrees in town, - 2 degrees on bellevarde and a tropcal -6 on the pisaillas glacier. Today will bring with it a maximum temperature of 1 degree in town.
Ski Report:
Its due to snow today, bear inmind that things can change rapidly on a day like today so always pay close attention to signage and respect all closures.
In Le Fornet, everything is open today except the piste tunnel.
On the Pissaillas glacier everything is open with no exceptions.
Up in Solaise everything is open except the 3000 drag lift which is funnily enough still closed.
Similarly on Bellevarde, everything will open including both Liasons with Tignes, chairs Tommeuse and Borsat . There is a Fleche slalom race on the OK Orange this morning so the OK will open at midday for skiiers. There is a chance the expert border cross area and the snow park in Bellevarde may close later as well due to lack of visibility.
All walking and ski touring trails are also open.
as I mentioned, keep your eyes peeled for updates as things may change quickly today.
The avalanche risk is 1/5 today. Even still with the whispering of fresh powder there may be a few of you keen to head of piste. I must remind you that the avalanche risk is always to be taken seriously, If you are heading off piste make sure you have got all the gear, and ALL the idea of how to use it, this includes a transiever, shovel and probe.
If you've got an experienced person handy take one of those too, or even better hire a guide if you are not sure what you are doing! Also, the light may be a bit flat today so dont forget your very cool orange tinted lenses.
Stay safe, and most importantly, have fun.
Road Conditions
This morning, the road surface was clear however as the day goes on and snow falls the roads may become slippery so do take care when moving around on wheels are on foot.
News
Rubbish Bins Fire
On Sunday around 2 PM, a fire broke out in the Moloks which is the name of the underground rubbish containers in the town center (photo credit: Cécilia). The fire was quickly brought under control by four firefighters. It was the municipal police, who were on-site, that alerted emergency services. Both the firefighters and the municipal police are unaware of the cause of the fire—whether it was due to a cigarette butt, chimney ashes, or something else.
As a reminder, it is prohibited to dispose of chimney ashes in the Moloks. Once you have ensured the ashes are fully extinguished, you can either compost them or take them to a waste disposal site. Regarding cigarette butts, please make sure they are fully extinguished before throwing them into a bin.
