After spending a cold Tuesday night shivering under our stars,
2 visitors from Holland can confirm that you can’t get through the famous off piste route
“The Gorge du Malpasset”.
Hopefully they will be forever grateful to our amazing rescue team
who eventually found them,
using a handy piece of kit the police have that can find phones that are out of juice.
So Today's Top Tip :
Don’t try getting through The Gorge
Unless you are a mountain goat.

The avalanche risk today is 3 out of 5.
This is a considerable risk.
Never ski off piste unless all of your group have
a beep, probe and shovel.
Why not put the telephone number of the pisteurs in your phone,
including the +33 for France.
The number is on the back of your ski pass.
If you have to call for help :
On piste :
Give the name and number on the round piste marker.
“Right” is “skiers right”…….
Not as you look up the slope
Off Piste :
Do you know where you are ?
How you got there ?
The name of the last lift ?
If you are not paying attention, maybe you should stay on piste.
The avalanche may have buried your knowledgeable guide.
If your phone has power,
which you shouldn’t rely on in our very cold conditions……
You can call the rescue from the Val d’isère app
And give your co-ordinates from a compass app.

For a change of scene
Why not use the Tommeuse or  Borsat chairlifts
and head to Tignes, which also has excellent skiing

For Cross country skiers
There are tracks for you to enjoy in
The Manchet Valley
And Lac Ouillette.

Walkers
All our paths are open except for les Branges.
Because of the potential for the wind stopping the lift
before you get home, the Col de l’Iseran

Sad British News.
A British lady in her 60's lost control on a black run

Collided with a British man in his 30's, who was standing still.
Broke his leg and she died.
Our sympathies to everyone involved in this tragedy,
Including the rescue team.
