The avalanche risk today is 2 out of 5, a significant risk
For ski tourers, venturing far from our marked pistes,
there is still the possibility of setting off a huge avalanche.
The pisteurs had fun knocking a nice big slab into The Aiglons yesterday.
NEVER ski off piste unless all of your group are fully equipped with beep, probe and shovel,
know how to use them and have practiced recently.
Take a mountain guide if you don’t understand the area and the current conditions.
Can you stop suddenly ?
Always ski in control, particularly in the areas marked
“Zone Tranquille » which translates as “Quiet area”
It is both dangerous and unfair to buzz fast past beginners who are concentrating on their every turn.
Don’t blame them for their erratic behaviour -
the skier, or boarder, higher up the slope is always responsible for avoiding anyone below them.
A sad reminder was a fatal collision in Les Arc last week.
Please don’t ski without insurance that covers skiing. and includes off piste if that is your plan.
You can buy it for just a few euros from the lift ticket offices.
The pisteurs are the people to phone when you are in trouble on our mountain.
Their number is on the back of your ski pass.
Why not put it in your phone now, including the +33 as we are in France.
If you are going to Tignes use the Tommeuse or Borsat chairlifts.
For Cross country skiers, there are tracks for you to
slide elegantly along in
the Manchet Valley and Lac Ouillette.
All our walking paths are open.
If you have a dog, Never forget to pick up their poo.
