Weather
Good Morning Val D'Isere!
...And a good morning it will be as we have with generally sunny weather on the way today, perhaps with a light dusting of snow around lunchtime
The wind is expected to be light, prevailing from the south east this mornng, then shifting around to the east this afternoon and gusting up to 50kmh on the ridges.
Temperatures are set to reach a tropical high of -10 degrees at 3000m and -1 degrees in town, so it will certainly feel a little brisk wherever you are today.
Temperatures at 9 o clock were sitting at -8 degrees on bellevarde, -8 degrees in town, and a chilly -12 degrees on the pisaillas glacier.
Roads
This morning, the road surface was clear, but if youve almost slipped as many times as I have recently you'll know full well that ice can still be found on the pavements.

**Visitor Numbers**
For this final week of the school holidays, French tourists, including those from Zone A, Belgians, some Swiss cantons, and Germans will be holidaying in the resort. The occupancy rate is expected to be 87%, representing 98,000 overnight stays. Just like January, March will be an "inter-holiday" period, but a good visitor turnout of 72.2% is still expected. Cécile Ferrando, Director of Communications and Marketing at Val d'Isère Tourism, explains in detail the expected occupancy rates for the upcoming weeks.
**Traffic Conditions**
Another busy weekend is expected on the Savoie roads. From 8 AM to 7 PM, travel conditions will be difficult in the direction of departures (down the mountain). For return trips, congestion is expected at specific times: from 8 AM to 1 PM and from 6 PM to 7 PM. Tomorrow, traffic will be smooth for departures, but minor disruptions are expected for returns from 11 AM to 12 PM and at 6 PM. In the Tarentaise region, 69,000 vehicles are expected going uphill and 76,000 going downhill.
**Super-G Test**
Yesterday morning, the ski patrol conducted its first open-to-all Super-G test on the Borsat slope. It was a success among tourists, beginners, speed enthusiasts, and ski schools. The test may become a regular event and be improved to raise awareness about proper behavior on the slopes and reduce the feeling of insecurity.
**Post Office Initiative**
The post office is partnering with an eyewear company to promote more responsible consumption. Val d'Isère is one of four post offices in Savoie participating in this experiment. The partnership with this Lille-based company, specializing in refurbishing unused glasses, aims to collect old glasses from individuals and resell them at post offices. Customers can drop off their unused glasses in a collection box at the post office. Once collected, they will be sorted, examined, dismantled, cleaned, and reassembled by people in professional reintegration programs. In the dedicated space, customers will also be able to explore refurbished glasses fitted with new lenses. These non-prescription glasses will be available for purchase, with magnifying lenses in categories +1 and +2, and sunglasses in category 3. In 2024, over 300,000 frames were collected, preventing 6 tons of metal and plastic from being discarded.
**Dynastar Trophy**
The atmosphere was once again lively at the Dynastar Trophy. Last night, vacationers took part in a head-to-head parallel slalom race on the Savonnette slope. In the junior category, Joseph Godefroy took the win, ahead of Baptiste Bosselut and Charly Lescure. For the women, Lily Bosselut triumphed against Marie Gomes and Lili Merge. Finally, in the men's category, Antoine Foulon claimed victory, followed by Oscar Beydon and Benjamin Margulies. The next Dynastar Trophy will take place next Friday.
