SKI REPORT
For the most up-to-date information please click here.
Here are the highlights of the ski report.
Last day on the slopes for many of you, for this holiday, but it should be a suitable grand finale.
Nearly everything is both open and beautifully groomed.
Only 1 lift and 2 pistes will be closed all day.
ON BELLEVARDE
The final wall of the Epaule du Charvet was not groomed,
but you could avoid this by sneaking into the lower part of the Santons.
The middle part of the Orange was not groomed
The Raye will be closed this morning for training, but then open to everyone.
The Snow Park has a good choice of obstacles to suit your skill level.
The Pisteurs are big fans of you learning how to control your speed !
So, they have set up the brand new Friday Feature -
Super G on the very green piste, the Borsat, 09.30 – 14.00.
No charge. No need to book.
It is for anyone to enjoy at any speed.
However fast, however slow.
Don’t forget to visit The Village Perdu.
Cabins hidden in the Forest in La Daille.
You do need a basic level to ski there,
as the track between the trees is never pisted.
Just because it is Friday, and your last day, it doesn’t mean that you
are obliged to ski the Face.
It is a steep black run which will still be here when you
can ski in good control
ON SOLAISE
The 3000 lift and piste are closed.
The S, Cugnai and Marmottons were not groomed.
For tourers -the Ecureuil track is never groomed.
LE FORNET
Everything is open except the Tunnel.
The Foret, Petit Bois and Signal were not groomed.
ON PISAILLAS
Everything is open and groomed.
NURSERY SLOPE
Everything is open and groomed, including the tobogganing area.
The avalanche risk today is 1 out of 5.
Low risk but never no risk.
If you are heading off piste - do know really where you are going?
The names often give you a clue -
The Gorge du Malpasset, cannot be passed.
The “Couloir nulle part”, goes “nowhere”
Unless you fancy jumping off a steep cliff, onto rocks.
Look closely at your group.
Would they be any use in an emergency, if you were injured ?
Please check that they all have a beep, probe, shovel
and have practised recently.
If you are going to Tignes,
use either the Tommeuse or Borsat chairlifts.
All of our walking, multi activity and cross country tracks are open,
But there is a possibility that they will prevent pedestrians going to the
Col de l’Iseran if they are worried the wind will stop the bubbles,
as then it would be a very long walk down.
LOCAL NEWS
Important visit today - to Val, and for Val.
Organisers for the 2030 Winter Olympics.
To decide if we will be included or excluded.
Discussions will be held behind doors firmly closed,
even to the media.
The VIPs negotiating include our Mayor, Patrick Martin,
our local hero, Jean Claude Killy,
who won golds in the Albertville Olympics for
downhill, slalom and giant slalom.
So impressive that for a long time our Winter Wonderland
was named “Espace Killy”.
Edgar Grospiron, The head of the organising committee,
who also knows a bit about skiing as he is an
Olympic and World cup Freestyle and Bumps champion.
Finally, a very familiar name.
He was involved in the organisation of the 1992 Albertville Olympics.
Last year was Prime Minster of France,
and tried hard to keep us in the EU, during the Brexit negotiations.
Michel Barnier.
Let’s hope they make the right choice !
Our pisteurs are very aware that people are worried about their
Safety on the Slopes.
Who doesn’t love a bit of speed ?
The Super G on Borsat last Friday was a huge success
with skiers zipping down every 20 seconds.
This course is open again for everyone to enjoy, for free.
From 9.30 – 14.00 today.
So you can zooooom as fast, or slow, as you like
In the safest possible conditions.
Hopefully even learn how to control your speed
And adapt to all situations, so when on a ‘normal piste’
You can STOP if you suddenly see someone
just below you on the slope.
The skier arriving from above is ALWAYS responsible for
avoiding anyone below, however weirdly they are wobbling.
No exceptions. No excuses.
Yesterday evening was double trouble for the final fling, this winter
from the famous Parisian Paname Comedy Club.
Almost 1000 fans enjoyed the 2 sell out shows.
Hopefully they will be back for a third time in 2026.
“Air de Rien”.
4 ladies and 2 men, including Anna who has taught many of us here to sing.
They took last night’s audience in the Cinema on a Global singsong.
Capella, percussion.
Traditional stories, distinctive cultures.
There is another chance to catch them this evening
at 19.00 in our ornate Baroque Church.
No fixed charge but donations are graciously accepted.
It is the Dynastar Trophy competition his evening,
on the Savonnette slope.
This famous race is only for holiday makers,
not for secret semi-pro or pro skiers.
By that I mean, if you belong to an Alpine Ski Club,
or are on a ski training course you must not compete.
It is a single-elimination parallel slalom.
3 simple categories – men, women, children.
Winners will receive a prize from Val d’Isėres partner
Dynastar, who will also donate a pair of skis for the raffle.
There isn’t a fee to enter but there are only
32 places for men and children and 16 for women.
There are a lot more competitive spirits than that
here on holiday at the moment,
so if you want to experience the thrill of racing
don’t hang around – put your skates on and
get to the Club de Sports to register ASAP.
You can find the Club office next to the ticket office
between the bottom of the Olympique and Solaise bubbles.
At 18.00 every Friday during the school holidays,
local artist and art teacher Rozenn Roszak leads
an art workshop in the cosy studio up the back stairs
behind the Church.
This evening’s session is based on the Arno Stern philosophy.
Freedom without judgement.
Make marks, play with colours, enjoy the process.
In a world where our children are constantly taking exams,
being graded, compared and contrasted,
this is a time for them to express their inner joy.
Children must be at least 5 years old.
Adults are also welcomed.
Please book at the Tourist Office.
The next opportunity will be on 11th April, in the Easter School holidays.
17.45
