WEATHER
We have blue skies and it will be a lovely warm sunny day,
though there is a bit of a wind, even in the village.
However we don’t think it will be enough to affect our modern lifts.
At 8.50 the temperature is
+1° in the Village.
-5° on Solaise.
-6° on Bellevarde.
-11° on Pisaillas.
The maximum temperature at 2000 metres will be +6°
The wind is blowing at nearly 40 km/ hour on Bellevarde, but barely a puff on Pisaillas.
At 08.50…..
SKI REPORT
Plenty of sunny slopes to choose from.
Nearly everything is both open and groomed.
Only the 3000 drag lift will be closed all day.
ON BELLEVARDE
Everything groomed except for the Epaule du Charvet
and part of the Orange.
THE Raye is closed for training this morning, but will then be open for everyone
The Santons will almost certainly close due to the
risk of an avalanche filling this gulley.
PLEASE our pistes are only closed when there is a very good reason.
Do not ski on a closed piste.
ON SOLAISE
The 3000 lift and piste are closed.
The Marmottons, S, Cugnai, Rhone Alps and Ecureuil touring track
were not groomed.
The L is also a gully and may close for same avalanche reasons as Santons.
LE FORNET
Everything is open except the Tunnel.
The Foret and Table d’Orientation were not groomed.
ON PISAILLAS
Everything is open and groomed.
On the NURSERY SLOPE
Everything is open and groomed, including the tobogganing area.
The avalanche risk today is 2out of 5.
There is potential trouble out there,
especially on northern or north western slopes far from the pistes
Over the last week we have had new snow, wind and a warm sun.
So plenty of slabs still out there,
And there were 3 avalanches yesterday.
If you are heading off piste –
Think carefully
do you really know
Where you are going?
Do all your team
Have beep
Probe and shovel
Know how to use them
And have practised recently.
Any doubts - ski with a mountain guide
If you are going to Tignes,
use either the Tommeuse or Borsat chairlifts.
All of our walking, multi activity and cross country tracks are open
but if the wind picks up
they will stop pedestrians going to the Col de l’Iseran.
LOCAL NEWS
Yesterday evening representatives from the town hall presented details of the2.6 million euro Val village renovation project.
The first of 2 phases will start in May, as soon as our winter season finishes.
While the 2nd will be in 2026.
Contractors have promised to minimise the disruption to the
shop keepers and property owners, particularly during the important summer seasons,
while work resurfacing, planting and improving the appearance races ahead.
When you are welcomed on holiday to our Winter Wonderland
you would be forgiven for thinking that the cost of living crisis has skied past us.
Wrong !
Earlier in the winter we spoke about the difficulties many of our
local residents and seasonal employees have, particularly with the price of food.
Yesterday was the 3rd workshop focusing on ways to eat well, in Val, on a limited budget.
Ideas Included
developing an app linking those in need with shops with surplus food,
a lunch, similar to the meals on wheels already available for senior citizens,
that could be collected from the Vie Val d’Is,
And both a printed and digital guide to what is available in Val
plus tips on economical ways to cook.
The next workshop will be on the 16th of April,
with the aim to transform the ideas into actions.
