p1311110

Today is looking a little bit mixed, with a clear and sunny morning but cloud cover creeping in around midday and remaining overcast all afternoon, with a few light snowflakes due to fall this evening.
The wind be light and will prevail from the southwest with gusts up to a moderate 40kmh above 3000m.
Temperatures are set to reach a maximum of a mild 1 degree in town, and -11 degrees on the peaks. The freezing point sits at 2000m today so get high for the good snow.
Currently, temperatures are sitting at -4 degrees on Bellevarde, -10 on the Pisaillas glacier and -1 degree in town.
The road surfaces have been cleared, but there is some new ice on the pavements so do take care when moving around on foot.

Ski Report:

A pretty good ski day if you are heading out on to the hill today.

In Le Fornet sector, everything is open today except the piste tunnel which remains closed.

On the Pissaillas Glacier, everything is open today without any restrictions.

Up in Solaise everything is open today except the 3000 drag lift which is still closed due to lack of snow.

As for Bellevarde, everything is open including both liasons with tignes, chairs tommeuse and borsat.

The bottom of Epaule de charvet is also closed due to lack of snow.

There is a high chance that piste L and Santons may close later as in this warmer spring weather the avalanche risk is a lot higer. If you are planning on heading down santons keep your eyes peeled for the sign at the top of bellevarde with the updates. to get back to town you can ski epaule du charvet and cut across to the bottom of santons as the bottom of epaule du charvet is closed today.

The walking, ski touring and cross country trails are all open day.

The avalanche risk is 2/5 today.

With the chance that there is little bit of new powder to play in you may be keen to head off piste.

If you are heading off piste make sure you have got all the kit, and make sure you know how to use it! Dont be an all the gear and no idea person. This includes a transiever, shovel and probe. If you've got an experienced person or two handy take one of those too, or even better hire a guide if you are not sure what you are doing!

The road surfaces have been cleared, but there is some new ice on the pavements so do take care when moving around on foot.

Cardiac Arrest on Bellevarde
Yesterday morning, around 10:30 AM, a 63-year-old man suffered a cardiac arrest on the Face de Bellevarde. Six ski patrollers, along with the SAF (Air Rescue Service) from Courchevel, responded quickly to the scene. The first responders performed CPR, successfully restarting the man's heart and breathing before he was airlifted away while still unconscious. It remains unknown whether he was transported to Grenoble or Chambéry and what his current condition is.

STVI Training Exercise
At the same time, Val d’Isère Téléphérique staff carried out an internal training exercise on the Loyes Express chairlift. The drill aimed to train as many personnel as possible on lift evacuation procedures in case of a breakdown. Around twenty people took part in small groups, practicing with different technologies such as the IMMOS system and rescue pulley. This was the fourth training session of the season, ensuring compliance with lift evacuation regulations. Staff have 30 minutes to fix a breakdown; if unsuccessful, a vertical evacuation must be completed within 3.5 hours. All participants passed their evaluations and learned new rescue techniques.

Four-Year-Aged Cheese Tasting
This morning, several top chefs from Val d’Isère and Tignes will have the rare chance to taste an exceptional cheese from Ferme des Coussillons. What makes it special? It’s their signature cheese, Iseran, but instead of the usual 20-month aging process, this batch has been aged for a full four years! The idea came from curiosity after hearing about an old cheese that had been forgotten and was still edible and delicious. Normally, Iseran's 20-month-aged version has a flavor profile between Beaufort and Comté. The farm is unsure of the texture and taste of this 2021-produced cheese and wants to keep the reveal a surprise when they open the 45kg wheel in front of the chefs. Depending on the outcome, Ferme des Coussillons will decide whether to commercialize this ultra-aged version.
