  • +3° in the Village.
  • -1° on Solaise.
  • -3° on Bellevarde.
  • -4° on Pisaillas.

ROADS

SKI REPORT

For the most up-to-date information please click here.
Here are the highlights of the ski report.

ON BELLEVARDE
The French Championships for the under 16 boys is taking place on the OK and Orange.
The last wall of the Epaule du Charvet is closed, but you can get down through
 the bottom of the Santons.
The top part of the Santons will close early due to the risk of an avalanche smothering this piste.

NEVER ski or board on a closed piste.
If you get buried the normally charming pisteur who put up the red “no go” ropes
may be grumpy digging you out.

The Brinzei touring track is open but the lower part is thin and tired
and you will have to take skis off.

ON SOLAISE
The 3000 lift and piste and the lower part of the Marmottons are closed.
The Marais, S, Cugnai, Marmottons and Ecureuil touring track
were not groomed.

LE FORNET
Everything is open except the Tunnel.
The Foret, Petit Bois and Signal were not groomed.

ON PISAILLAS
Everything is open and groomed.

The avalanche risk today is 2 out of 5.
Spring conditions, but weak refreeze so it will be quick to mush.

If you are heading off piste – do you really know what you are doing
And where you are going?
Could any of your team help you if you had an accident ?
Why not minimise the risk and hire a mountain guide.

If you are going to Tignes, use either the Tommeuse or  Borsat chairlifts.

All of our walking, multi activity and cross country tracks are open.

Please leave the quiet areas for beginners.
Anyone can zip down the border cross, but
buzzing beginners, on a normal piste is plain mean.
And dangerous.

LOCAL NEWS

For those who missed it, the Club des Sports AGM was last Thursday,
when 5 new committee members were voted in.
After 25 years of being secretary to the Exec, unpaid,
Jean Jovet has retired gracefully but stays in charge of
The endowment fund for a further year.
The new committee team are meeting today to hatch plans for the coming year.

After their practice runs yesterday, the under 16 boys are ready to race for
golden Super G glory in the French Championships

These races are an important step, or ski, towards the adult French team,
and the international FIS circuit.

Today is the 14th Signal Derby Race.
Only one rule…the quickest from the start to the finish.
Off piste.
Your choice – what, where, how.
Skis, snowboards, monoskis, telemarks or a “Skwal” – may be a new term for you…
Something to slide down on, between a snowboard and monoski.
Qualifications start at 11.00 and the final will be at 15.00.
The prize giving, at the bottom of le Fornet is at 17.00, followed by Party time !
Food, drink and music from Holy Mountain Sound.
If you want to take part, places are limited.

You must have a helmet, avalanche beep and insurance….
Wonder why….
The pisteurs will also be hanging around.
Hoping they are not needed…

For our LGBTQ+community.

The Ecomove Day yesterday afternoon was a big success,
ending with 80 litres of soup being devoured,
and significant funds raised for Val’s important eco projects.
Thanks again to the Vie Val d’Is for all they do to improve our lives.
Most are volunteers.

The opening of the 2 art exhibitions in Maison de Val yesterday
was a fun event, nourished with drinks and tasty nibbles.
Christėle Bonnevie gave a speech, before everyone poured into the exhibition area.
A relaxed opportunity to chat to the two artists,
especially as Clėment Rizzo leaves Val today.
Luckily for those who missed out,
his interesting, colourful cartoons will still be there for
you to see until the 4th of May.

My (please note the “MY”) charcoal portraits of local Val d’Isereans
will also stay there, proudly on the route that leads to the cinema.
I was pleased that so many of you came yesterday and a it was a huge relief
that you recognised friends and relatives decorating the walls.

Our senior citizens had yesterday's snowshoeing outing postponed,
but today the CCAS have arrange to
give their brains a bit of a work out.
Brain gym and "Sophrology".
The bright idea of a neuropsychiatrist in the 1960's.
Physical and mental exercises to promote health and well-being.
Sounds interesting !
