We finally have some snow falling although we are expecting just 1cm throughout the course of the morning.
The wind is expected to be moderate, at around 15kmh but gusting up to 30kmh at altitude.
Temperatures are set to reach a high of 3 degrees in town and a baltic -11 at 3500m, so it will feel a little brisker today than it has for the last few spring days.
At 09:00 temperatures were sitting at -6 degrees on bellevarde, 1 degree in town, and a chilly -9 degrees on the pisaillas glacier.
This morning, the road surface was clear, but ice can still be found on the pavements so do take care when moving around on foot.

Ski Report:

A flat light sort of ski day if you are heading out on to the hill today, so not the worst day to have at the end of your holiday. If you are skiing, dont forget your orange tinted lenses!

In Le Fornet sector, everything will be open today except the piste tunnel which remains closed, and pistes pre-chemin, signal and foret have not been piste bashed.

On the Pissaillas Glacier, everything will be open today without any restrictions. Piste aguille pers has not been bashed.

Up in Solaise everything will open  today except the 3000 drag lift which is still closed due to lack of snow.
Pistes Cugnai, the S, marmottons, have not been bashed.

As for Bellevarde, everything will open including both liasons with Tignes, chairs Tommeuse and Borsat.

There is a high chance that piste L and Santons may close later as in this warmer spring weather the avalanche risk is a lot higher. If you are planning on heading down santons keep your eyes peeled for the sign at the top of bellevarde with the updates and you can take epaule du charvet if you are a good skiier, then cut across to the bottom of santons.

The walkingcross country trails are all open day. The ski touring trails Brinzei in la daille and Ecuriel up solaise are also open, however today might be the last day of Brinzei in La Daille as it really is lacking snow.

The avalanche risk is 1/5 today but it is important to always take this seriously and take all safety precastiond if you are planning an off piste adventure.

Dont forget all your avalanche kit, and most importantly make sure you know how to use it properly. Dont be an all the gear and no idea kind of person.
This includes a transiever, shovel and probe. Dont forget to pack your experience too.
You could also hire a guide if you are not sure what you are doing!

Pisteurs’ Memorial

Yesterday morning, the Régie des Pistes association organized its Pisteurs’ Memorial in La Daille. For this 38th edition, two competitions took place with the participation of pisteurs from Les Arcs, Les Saisies, La Plagne, La Giettaz, and Bonneval-sur-Arc.

The first event was the Giant Slalom and the stretcher race, featuring about fifty participants and a podium entirely composed of Avalins. Lucas and Charles secured victory with a time of 1 minute, 3 seconds, and 15 hundredths, followed by Tom and Cédric, and Candice and Jeannot.

The drivers also had their timed event in two parts. Six participants first navigated an obstacle course in a snow groomer, aiming to place a ball into a basket. Then, in a second groomer, they attempted to move a ball through a labyrinth using the groomer’s blade. The fastest time recorded was 1 minute and 51 seconds.

Various activities were offered, including a pisteurs’ merchandise shop and a specially designed waterslide where the bravest attempted to cross the pool without taking a plunge. The event concluded with an evening at a bar in La Daille.

Queer Evening

Last night marked the second and final Queer Evening organized by the LGBTQ+ collective “Les Queer Givré.e.s” at Le Splendid cinema. This second evening focused on cinema, featuring the screening of ten short films addressing various themes related to LGBTQ+ individuals’ lives.

Loyalty Medal
Jonathan Robert Yates-Smith had the pleasant surprise on his birthday of receiving the Grand Gold Medal for his 50 years of loyalty to Val d'Isère. Jonathan Robert Yates-Smith first came to Val d'Isère in 1975 thanks to his brother, who was a tour guide. He started as a diver before founding his company YSE. He lives there year-round with his wife and loves the kindness of the people of the area. For his 76th birthday, his three children, his wife, and even his brother gave speeches, accompanied by a slideshow of photos and videos.
