Weather

We welcome the day with more gorgeous sunny weather. However, in the second part of the day some cloud cover will arrive and the wind will pick up to approximately 30 km/hr. for the moment it's just a light breeze up in the Pisaillas area.
As for temperatures, at 9 o’clock it’s 6°C in the village, 9°C at the top of Bellevarde, and 6°C at Pisaillas. A similar temperature range can be expected again today, looking at a top of 18°C at 2000m.

Roads

No difficulties are expected for vehicles travelling on the local roads today.

Ski Report

As we head into spring, some runs will close throughout the day due to rising avalanche danger with the current weather conditions.

The Pisaillas and Fornet sectors will be opening to the public today, all lifts and runs are expected to open. The Combe du Geant may close due to avalanche danger.

Over on Solaise, all lifts will open on time this morning, however the Piste L will not open today, and the Marmottons is now closed at the bottom. Everything will be open on the snowfront today.

In the Bellevarde sector, the majority of the terrain will be open today and the Santons will likely close in the afternoon. The Monde du Gypaete will close this afternoon. Skiing in Tignes can be accessed via the Tommeuse or Borsat lifts.

Cross Country skiers can choose between the ski loops in the Manchet Valley and the Lac de l'Ouillette. Pedestrians can head out to any of our trails today, apart from the Branges.

The avalanche risk is 3/5 today. Always ski with a partner, have the appropriate gear and know how to use it, and if in doubt hire a guide.

Local News

The Adventure and Discovery film festival kicks off today. Before the opening ceremony tomorrow evening, the impatient can get in the mood with the 'Before the festival' starting from 6:30 p.m. tonight at the Splendid cinema.
On the program are two documentaries including “The Forest of Shadows”. Wildlife photographer Vincent Munier takes us into a familiar environment, only then to reveal unsuspected secrets.
Afterwards will be “With the Fairies” by Priscilla Telmon. This member of the jury illustrates the book by the same name by the MC, Sylvain Tesson, in search of this legendary being along the Celtic coast. A 14-minute documentary followed by a discussion with Sylvain Tesson, Priscilla Telmon and Vincent Munier.
This introduction to the festival is free and open to all, but don't wait, you must reserve your place by registering with the Tourist Office.

Still regarding the Adventure and Discovery festival, a new event has been added to the calendar. Maxence Cavalade, a winter ski instructor with us, wants to beat his own speed riding record. In 2019 Maxence had descended nearly 48,000m of elevation in one day, going down the off-piste slopes near the Face de Bellevarde and going back up with the Olympique cable cars, 57 times during the day.
A world record which has been held for 4 years, which Maxence wishes to beat tomorrow Monday, proposing this feat as part of the Adventure and Discovery festival.
More information coming tomorrow morning in thelocal news.

There have been several avalanches over the last few days in the proximity of the ski area, in particular on the Piste L (our photo). There were significant slides which occurred on Friday and Saturday morning before the ski area opened for the day.
A good reminder that you should never venture into closed terrain, for safety reasons.
