ROADS
No problems are expected on our roads.
Cedric, our Head Ski patroller (pisteur), described today’s conditions as « ideal », albeit sun-free.
Nearly all our pistes and lifts are open, and were groomed overnight.
The only lift that is closed is the elderly Mont Blanc chairlift,
which is being repaired and we are hoping it will finally reopen tomorrow.
They are busy digging out the 3000 draglift on Solaise.
The snow is so high that even our high tech machines can’t be used, in case they get tangled with the cables.
So we have to thank the dedicated, strong lift people and their shovels.
It should be open this afternoon. Thanks guys !
The exciting news is that, for the first time in many, many years,
the snow conditions are so good that the Tunnel piste may open today.
First the 3000 draglift needs to be dug out !
The following pistes are closed :
- Moutons as you can’t get to it.
There is training on Raye and the
G. - The French qualifying races for the Scara are on
the upper parts of the Orange and
OK. - The Boarder Cross is closed while visibility is tricky.
The following were not groomed :
AT LE FORNET
- Fôret
ON SOLAISE
- Cugnai
- Glaciers
- Marmottons
ON BELLEVARDE
Everything was groomed, Including the steep black run the Epaule du Charvet.
Tignes can be accessed via the Tommeuses and Borsat chairlifts.
The avalanche risk today is 3 out of 5.
Always think carefully before venturing off piste.
Only ski with people who
- regularly do beep searches,
- can flick out their probe,
- click together their shovel,
- and dig.
If you have any doubts, stay on piste until you can ski with a mountain guide.
All our cross county tracks and walking paths are open and recently groomed except Les Branges.
LOCAL NEWS
Unfortunately, the first day of the Scara,
an international Alpine Ski competition for the Under 14 and 16's,
had to be cancelled yesterday.
The covering of new snow was too soft, particularly as the base underneath was not hard base, so racing would have been dangerous.
Therefore, the U16s who will race this weekend will be the 40 boys and 30 girls who over the season had already acrued the most points.
Today is the qualifers for the U14s.
Let's hope that the snow is suitable, and the weather is kind.
There will be an awards ceremony for the French skiers
in the Avenue Olympique this evening from 17.45
with famous Savoyarde DJ Matafan in charge of the party, and
local Olympic Hero Clément Noël will be promoting the new-this-season-event, Alpine Park.
Looking ahead :
Tickets for the « Adventure and Discovery Festival » from 15-18th April are available online.
It has become so popular that passes are already sold out, but you can still buy tickets for
individual films.
There will be plenty to see apart from the films, and you don't need tickets to go into those areas.
Finally : You may have heard explosions yesterday evening.
The ski patrollers were working late to protect our pistes and village from avalanche prone slopes.
This helicopter PIDA was finally possible when the visibilty was clear enough to safely fly.
Big thanks, once again, to our excellent ski patrollers.

The snow bodyboard is controlled by transferring your weight and
