Weather

The high pressure system is well established in the area, beautiful blue skies and sunshine continue all day long, with a veil of cloud arriving this evening.Light winds are predicted across our mountains, currently gusting up to 20 km/hr at Pisaillas.
We have another temperature inversion this morning, at 9 a.m. it is -5°C in the village, and +2°C at the top of Solaise and -1.5°C at Pisaillas. Today in the village we can expect a maximum temperature of 4°C.

Roads
Regarding the local roads, the struggle concerning vehicles entering and leaving the area has come to an end, for now. The Savoyard farmers' blockade at the Chignon toll gate was lifted around 10 a.m. yesterday morning, but not before tons of sludge had been dumped along the toll gate. While the mess was being cleared, the A43 between Chambéry Lyon and Grenoble was finally able to reopen at 4 p.m. Further along the road, the blockage continued all day yesterday in the northern Isère.

While road conditions are expected to return to normal today, a new wave of protests is expected to start up again tomorrow.

Ski Report

The entire ski area will be open this morning, however some runs may close in the afternoon due to rising avalanche danger.

The Pisaillas area will open to the public this morning, with all runs opening, all of which were groomed overnight. As for the Fornet area, the majority of the terrain will be open, apart from the Tunnel run.

Over on Solaise, all lifts will open on time, including the 3000 drag lift. The bottom section of the Marmottons run is closed due to a lack of snow.

In the Bellevarde sector, everything is open and in great condition; including the snowpark with S - XL lines open. Skiing in Tignes can be accessed via either the Tommeuse or Borsat lifts.

Cross Country skiers and Pedestrians can choose from any of our trails and loops today.

The avalanche risk is 2/5 today. Always ski with a partner, have the appropriate gear and know how to use it, and if in doubt hire a guide.

Local News

U16's boys slalom yesterday at the bottom of the Face de Bellevarde. Similar to the FIS races two weeks ago, the legendary course did not do any favours for the athletes, with only 36 boys completing the two heats, out of the 100 participants at the start. On the podium was Tiago Turne from Valmeinier, followed by Sevan Laroche and Hugo Lazareff from Courchevel. The Sports Club was represented with Alois Lefranc finishing in 7th, and Aime Ferrando 19th.
New race today for the U16's ladies, starting up at 10:15 a.m. for the first round.

Alpine Skiing World Cup and another French victory in the speed events yesterday in Garmisch Partenkirchen. Nils Allegre, at 30 years old, won his first victory on the world cup circuit, and also his first podium. Among the ladies, good performances, but frustration for Laura Gauche who finished in fourth place on the second Downhill in Cortina. Super G today, for both men and women.

In other world cup announcements, the news broke yesterday that the Downhill events in Chamonix planned for next weekend have been cancelled. The warm weather over the last couple of days in the Alps has affected the snow cover in Kandahar, forcing organisers to cancel the two races. The slalom scheduled for Sunday February 4th is still going ahead.
