Weather

Winter has made its return this morning, with a snowy start to the day, resulting in a storm total of up to 10 cm of snow by midday. Conditions will generally clear up through the middle of the day, where patches of blue sky are possible. Moderate to strong North-Westerly winds will be rolling through the mountains getting up to speeds of 80 km/hr.
Cold temperatures have returned locally, at 9 o’clock temperatures are -2°C in the village, -10°C at the top of Bellevarde, and -13°C at Pisaillas. Today, we can expect a top of -3°C at 2000m.

Roads

No major difficulties are expected on the roads of Tarentaise today, the bulk of the traffic having passed yesterday. The last departures, still wanting to ski today, may create some light traffic at the end of the day, from 4 - 7 p.m.

Ski Report

There was a couple of centimetres of fresh snow overnight, with more in places due to wind loading. Poor visibility can be expected, especially this morning. Some runs may close during the day, please respect all closures as they exist for your safety.

The Pisaillas will open to the public today, however the Cascade and Montet lifts will open with a slight delay this morning. All runs are expected to open, and everything was groomed overnight apart from the Combe du Geant.

In the Fornet sector today, all lifts will be open, although the Signal drag lift will have a slight delay. All runs are open apart from the Tunnel.

Over on Solaise, slight delays can be expected on the Leissieres, 3000, Cugnai and Manchet Express lifts. Piste L is likely to close throughout the day due to the avalanche danger. Everything will be open on the snowfront today including the tobogganing area.

In the Bellevarde sector, the Mont Blanc chairlift and the Moutons run will be closed today, while all other lifts will be open. The Borsat, Loyes, and Snowpark lifts will open with a delay. The Border Cross and Snowpark will likely stay closed due to poor visibility. The Santons will likely close later in the day due to avalanche danger. Skiing in Tignes can be accessed via the Tommeuse lift.

Cross Country skiers and Pedestrians can head out to any of our trails today, apart from the Branges and the Col d'Iseran.

The avalanche risk is 2/5 today. Always ski with a partner, have the appropriate gear and know how to use it, and if in doubt hire a guide.

Local News

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Christa Beilin this morning. Arriving in Val d’Isère in 1967 to build the La Gélinotte hotel with her husband Pierre, she was the mother of Anouchka, Caroline, Julie and Marion. Very present in the lives of the local children, Christa accompanied school outings, club races and gave skating lessons. At Easter, she even went to hide eggs in the Kern alongside Firmin Mattis who left us a couple of days ago. A great skier, she knew all the slopes of the resort perfectly, notably thanks to Jean-Lou Costerg. She also loved the moments shared with other seniors, during trips organised for the local community.
She passed away peacefully on Saturday March 23rd surrounded by her daughters, in her house in Saint Jorioz.

On a happier note, Mathilde Rérolle and Oscar Tugendhat said 'I do' yesterday evening in the Maison Marcel Charvin. A wedding attended by around thirty friends and members of both families, officiated by Patrick Martin, all of our best wishes to the bride and groom.

The countdown is on, 6 days to go until the Little Big Festival. See you all on Friday evening at 8 p.m. at the Congress Center for a great evening of cinema. 9 films lasting 6 minutes, shot and edited in just three weeks will be broadcasted. The lineup will be varied; ski films of course, alongside police investigations, Science Fiction, and many other things. Check out the trailer later today on our website.

Alpine skiing; with the ladies' Downhill yesterday in Saalbach. Race won by Cornlia Huetter, who at the same time won the small globe of the specialty. No Frenchwoman in the running, Laura Gauché was injured the day before in the Super G.
Last race of the season today for the men, Cyprien Sarrazin is currently second in the ranking, 42 points behind Marco Odermatt, so this last round promises to be intense, starting at 11:15 a.m. this morning.

Reminder: Palm Sunday will be celebrated this evening at 6 p.m., not in the church of Val d'Isère, but at that of Tignes le lac. Carpooling has been organised for those who need transport, and for those who have room in their car, meet at 5:15 p.m. this evening in front of the Val d'Isère church.

Finally, a happy birthday to Denise Dumas, who turns 98 today.
