Ski Report

With strong winds across the ski area forecasted throughout the day, numerous lifts will be affected by the wind and the situation is constantly evolving. As of 9 o'clock the following is open:

The Pisaillas area is currently open to the public, with all runs expected to open, and everything was groomed overnight.

In the Fornet sector today, all lifts are set to open apart from the Vallon gondola, and all runs are open apart from the Tunnel.

Over on Solaise, the wind is causing issues for the lifts, with the majority of the terrain unable to open for the moment, apart from the Solaise Gondola and the magic carpets. Everything will be open on the snowfront today including the tobogganing area.

In the Bellevarde sector, the Mont Blanc chairlift and the Moutons run will be closed today, and the Borsat will likely be affected by the wind. The Raye and piste G will be reserved for racing this morning, and will re-open to the public afterwards. Skiing in Tignes can be accessed via the Tommeuse lift.

Cross Country skiers and Pedestrians can head out to any of our trails today, apart from the Branges and the Col d'Iseran.

The avalanche risk is 2/5 today. Always ski with a partner, have the appropriate gear and know how to use it, and if in doubt hire a guide..

Local News

Many of you may have observed the recent rare local phenomenon; the water level of Chevril Lake is at its lowest, sitting at an altitude of 1655m. A waterline that had not been reached for many years.
Throughout the winter, EDF has gradually emptied this reservoir in order to be able to accommodate the meltwater from our watershed in the spring. In addition, the dam does not currently allow water to pass through, allowing work to be carried out in a tunnel downstream, which carries water from Les Brevières to the Malgovert power station. A mechanical excavator was also working yesterday at the bottom of the dam, carried out by the Tignes electricity authority.
The low water line reveals the remains of the ancient village of Tignes, difficult to discern after 70 years under water, and also the bridge of the old road leading to Val d'Isère.
EDF has noticed many people walking along the bottom of the lake and near the bridge, asking everyone to respect the regulations and stay out of the area, for safety reasons.

There was a technical issue yesterday afternoon on the Manchet Express chairlift. A screw broke in a bearing, blocking the lift and the 60 skiers on it for about an hour before the Val d'Isère Téléphériques teams fixed the issue and got the device moving again.
The final repairs took place afterwards and today the Manchet Express chairlift will be able to operate normally.

On a similar note, the Mont Blanc chairlift. The part which broke on March 4th should at long last be delivered today. It will then be necessary to install it and repair the device, which should take about a day.

Last round of the Avaline Trax this evening, the evening ski touring race between the Daille snowfront and the La Daille gondola top station. The Sports Club encourages everyone to come in fancy dress up for the final, with prizes for best dressed during the awards ceremony at the Tontons bar.
There are still a few places left for this great race, registrations can be made on the Sports Club website.
Dynastar, the ski area's ski partner, is offering a ski test all day long on the snow front of the Daille. You will also be able to test new skis during the Avaline Trax this evening.

The village seniors are invited to get together at 2:30 p.m. this afternoon for a cinema screening. The film Karako will be shown at the Splendid cinema, at the invitation of the CCAS.
