Tourism Breakfast
Yesterday morning, local professionals gathered for the Tourism Breakfast. The meeting started with an update on the end of the season and highlighted initiatives such as Ski and Chill, the promotion of events and activities by local businesses, and station events like the Adventure and Discovery Festival and the Clément Noël Alpine Park.
Marketing budgets were shared with those in attendance. The "Dernières Traces" package was presented again, aiming to boost activity in April, attract new customers, increase attendance, and build visitor loyalty.
The goal of 500 package sales was exceeded, with 614 sold (155 files submitted), generating more than €225,000 in revenue.
Key challenges and opportunities for the end-of-season period were discussed:
Challenges: climate change, lack of awareness of mountain conditions, limited transport options after early April, and reliance on school holidays.
Opportunities: early communication, local ecosystem momentum, and favorable weather.
The findings from a January 2024 customer survey conducted by Val d’Isère Téléphériques and BVA were shared. It showed:
Visitors seek relaxation and letting go in spring
Some who leave early feel Val d’Isère tries to extend winter, rather than offer a true spring experience
The new spring strategy should align more with visitor expectations.
Recommendations: focus on awareness, appeal, and unique character.
Professionals also raised concerns about:
Transport access to Val d’Isère at season’s end
The target clientele for late-season
The suggestion to postpone the Adventure & Discovery Festival by a week
The session ended with Dominique Maire presenting a collective safety plan for piste security and the outlook for next season.
A full report from the steering committee and group workshops will be available in the coming days.
