ROAD NEWS

Following last Saturday's landslide near Moutier,
hopefully around noon today the RN 90
will open at least one lane heading towards us.
Possibly two...
They have not been tardy reopening the road.
They need to make sure the protective concrete wall is safe
and have put in a second.
They also need to check that the road is strong enough
to support the high volume of traffic,
which is going to several resorts, not just Val,
as it may have been damaged when they blasted the cliff.
Just in case people get stuck, they are putting in place
plans for emergency accommodation.
Apologies to anyone affected.
Life in mountains can be complicated
We have your safety at our hearts.
Maybe be prepared for a slower journey than usual with
tasty snacks and Radioval playing.
If you are driving this weekend
make sure your car is equipped for snow.
Imagine getting past the landslide, only to slide on snow.

SKI REPORT

For the most up-to-date information please click here
Here are the highlights of the ski report.

It is ALWAYS good to be skiing in Val
even better with our current conditions.
sun, snow and just about everything is open.
Will just mention the very few exceptions.

ON BELLEVARDE

If the Santons is closed, don't ski under the ropes
as you may end up being buried by an avalanche
and have grumpy experts, whose advice you ignored,
putting their lives at risk, digging you out.

If jumps and bumps are your thing, most of the Snow Park is open.
A few more tasty obstacles will be added this weekend.

The Brinzei touring track has been nicely prepared
in advance of tonights avaline trax race.

A grooming machine broke down while flattening the G.
There is a dangerous area which they are fixing.
Don't go onto it until it opens

There is training on the Raye, but it will then be open for you to enjoy.

ON SOLAISE

Only the 3000 draglift and piste are closed.
It is very steep and nothing protects it from the wind.
It won't open until there is a huge wind less dump of snow.

The S and the Marmottons were not groomed

LE FORNET

Everything will except the Tunnel
and lower part of the Vallon.

The Foret is never groomed.

The good news is that the Signal draglift pylon has been replaced.
It is having a final test this morning.
All going well it will then be open for you to use.

ON PISAILLAS

The top of the Montets is closed, but you can ski the lower section.

The avalanche risk today is 2 out of 5, which has dropped as we have not
had any new snow, or much wind, in the last few days.
It is still a risk, particularly if you tour far from our pistes
onto untracked northern slopes
where are still wind slabs which could send you in a spin.
If you fancy skiing off piste, look carefully at your intrepid companions.
Any use if things go badly wrong ?
Do they all at least have beep, probe and shovel, and
know how to use them ? Practised this year ?
Any doubts ?
Stay on piste, or book to ski with, and learn from, a mountain guide.

If you are going to Tignes use the Tommeuse or  Borsat chairlifts.

There are tracks prepared for
cross country skiers in the Manchet Valley and Lac Ouillette.
All our walking paths are open.

19.00
Come to Crazy Barmes and meet the American author, Douglas Kennedy.
He will be talking about his new book
« Ailleurs, c'est moi »
Douglas is a major, longstanding franchophile.
In 2022 he accompanied President Marcron on his trip to Washington.
Several years ago, while at a French Literary event he was stung to be described as
« quite refined for an American »
even though it was meant as a compliment.
He has since investigated what it means to be American,
especially in the fractured society of Trump's USA.
He tells us his book is part novel, part autobiography and part road trip,
through an America both brilliant and stupid (his words not mine).
A portrait of the American soul.
It should be an interesting evening, and popular
Remember to reserve.....
