SKI REPORT
For the most up-to-date information please click here.
Conditions are particularly good today,
as only the 3000 draglift is closed
and most pistes are both open and groomed.
The easier pistes were groomed this morning
so softer than those groomed, then frozen, yesterday evening.
ON BELLEVARDE
Freestyle freaks can head to the snow park.
Show off your talent and win prizes
in this morning’s competition.
Registration opens at 10.00.
Competitors jump the bumps from 11.00.
Expect a party atmosphere
Especially as stories are shared around the barbeque.
The last impressive, very black wall of the Epaule du Charvet
has not been groomed but you can use the escape route into
the lower part of the Santons.
ON SOLAISE
Only the 3000 and piste are closed.
The Cugnai, S and the Marmottons were not groomed.
LE FORNET
Everything is open except the Tunnel.
A bit “commando” is the phrase Head pisteur Cedric
describes the effort always needed to open
this steep exposed area.
ON PISAILLAS
Everything is open.
The avalanche risk today is 2 out of 5.
Lowish risk, but still a risk.
If tempted by skiing off piste, choose your companions carefully.
Do they all have a beep, probe and shovel ?
Know how to use them ?
Practiced recently ?
Please remember that the Gorge du Malpasset is not passable.
A hint is in the name.
Getting back for dinner would involve an expensive rescue.
Any doubts ?
Stay on piste or book to ski with a mountain guide.
If you are going to Tignes, which also has excellent skiing,
use the Tommeuse or Borsat chairlifts
All our walking, multi activity and cross country tracks are open.
Please leave the grooved areas for the cross country skiers
Snow shoers, fat bikers, walkers and dogs
have plenty of other areas to enjoy.
If you have a problem, phone the pisteurs directly.
Their number is on the back of your lift pass.
Why not put it into your phone now, along with the +33 for France.
as we are in France.
So everyone can feel safe on our slopes, we have launched
a rule reminder campaign.
First easy rule to remember :
The skier arriving from above is always responsible
for avoiding those below.
No ifs, buts, exceptions or excuses…
LOCAL NEWS
Welcome to our winter playground !
Skiing is such a fun holiday, it is easy to get carried away,
and forget that sharing the pistes come with ten basic rules.
This is so we can all enjoy the slopes without fear of being
mown down.
Skiing in control is a fine thing….
Fast speed does not mean you are a good skier….
Far from it …..
Respect each others space.
Remember that the person arriving from above
is always responsible for avoiding anyone below,
however erratically they are bobbing to and forth.
No ifs or buts, no exceptions, no excuses.
Our town hall, ski patrollers, instructors and lift company
Have launched a campaign to remind you of the rules.
You will see this on the app, social media
Screens in the village and newsletters.
Everyone here wants you to feel safe on our slopes
at all times.
Val is moving with the times, and continues to look for ways
to help both our clients and the environment.
So, pedestrians using the bubble lift at la Daille,
will be given a QR code instead of a lift pass.
There will obviously be a separate pedestrian
QR code reader….
If all goes well, next winter this will be extended to other lifts.
