It gusts when you are on a chilly chairlift.

- +2° in the Village.
- -4° on Bellevarde.
- -6° on Pisaillas.

SKI REPORT
For the most up-to-date information please click here
Here are the highlights of the ski report.
Forget yesterdays sun glasses, today low light googles !
The 3000 draglift on Solaise is the only lift closed all day.
Most pistes are open, and groomed overnight.
Even the Epaule du charvet was groomed.
It is still a difficult black run, but you can avoid the steepest part by crossing into the lower part of the Santons.
If you fancy jumping around, go to the snow park !
They have a huge selection of obstacles for you to try.
If the visibility goes, for safety reasons, the Boarder Cross and Snow Park may close.
Go to the Foret piste in le Fornet if you fancy ungroomed bumps.
Pisteur plea : please don’t try the Gorge du Malpasset.
The clue is in the name – the gorge that can’t be passed.
OK- you often can but, not today !
The rescue, including helicopter is very expensive and the pisteurs have to risk themselves finding and getting you out.
The avalanche risk today is 2 out of 5.
Never ski off piste unless all of your group are fully equipped : beep, probe and shovel.
Do they all know how to use them, and have any of them practiced this year ?
If you are going to TIgnes
use the Tommeuse or Borsat chairlifts
don’t panic, too much, if you miss the lifts back as there is a shuttle bus.
For Cross country skiers there are tracks prepared for you to slide along in the Manchet Valley and Lac Ouillette.
All our walking paths are open.

Yesterday evening Gilles Perret was at our cinema with his latest film ‘To Work !’.
This funny, thought-provoking documentary
follows a middle class lawyer who had accused many of being lazy and
of taking advantage of the welfare state.
Even claiming the minimum wage was not that bad.
She was challenged by an MP to live on this wage,
to try different jobs in different parts of France
and see how far this basic salary went…
The film shows the people who do these jobs, just as they are -
nothing scripted, rehearsed or reshot.
Insights were shared.
Lessons learned.
Wednesdays are the evenings we reward loyal visitors who return regularly over many years.
Martin and Isaelle Lagger both received silver medals after a marriage made in Val !
Thank you UCPA for the introduction !
Their 30 years was at least doubled by our 2
Platinum medal winners.
Catherine Delorme’s 60 years only started
since she turned 18 –
She had already spent her childhood skiing with Val locals,
competing against the big names of old….
She still returns regularly
With her children and grandchildren.
It is so important to pass on your passion !
Another couple’s 100 combined years was recognised.
Alain Foucaud came as a boy and for 60 years since.
Excelling as an alpine ski athlete.
Dancing on tables was another skill he chose to share !
His sponsor Cyril Bonnevie has quite a few stories of the fun and mischief
his own father shared with Alain, including cycling and their army life.
Alain’s wife has “only” been coming to Val for 40 years,
but now proudly wears her gold medal.
Finally, ski news, from last weekend’s races in La Plagne.
Our rookie racers, Our Rising British Stars. The ones to watch !
Young racers are classified in age brackets spanning 2 years, so under 16, under 14, under 12.
The ‘rookies’ are the younger year in each category.
From the Schneiwind Stable, 2 demi-Brits but fully-Val d’Isėre,
In the giant slalom, Jackson came 2nd in the under 13’s and Roscoe came 5th in the under 11’s.
Our speedy young lady, 100% British bred and Val raised, Olivia Angus,
got both a gold and silver in the under 11’s, the rookie year of the under 12’s.
Well done Olivia – sure you could teach your parents a trick or two !
Olivia, Jackson and Roscoe - we are very proud of you all. You have worked hard.
It is not easy speeding between poles.
