WEATHER
Variable day today.
Lots of “possibilities” - maybe our weather folk are hedging their bets…
Clouds, storms and even thunder mentioned.
However, all this instability will bring a new coating of snow above 1500 metres.
Wind won’t be a problem, though occasional mean gusts could blow in your face.
Not cold.
At 9.50 the temperature is
+3° in the Village.
-2° on Solaise.
-4° on Bellevarde.
-7° on Pisaillas.
The maximum temperature at 2000 metres will be +3°.
ROADS
No problems are expected on our roads today.
SKI REPORT
For the most up-to-date information please click here.
Here are the highlights of the ski report.
Nearly everything is both open and groomed.
ON BELLEVARDE
Everything was groomed except for the Epaule du Charvet and The G.
The last wall of the Epaule is closed, but you can nip into the bottom of the Santons.
There is racing this morning on the upper parts of the OK and Orange.
The top part of the Santons will almost certainly close early,
due to the risk of an avalanche engulfing this piste.
NEVER ski or board on a closed piste.
If you get buried, the expert pisteur who put up the red ropes,
will have to risk their life trying to save you.
ON SOLAISE
The 3000 lift and piste are closed.
The lower part of the Marmottons is closed due to lack of snow.
The upper part of the Marmottons, S, Cugnai, La Fourche
And Ecureuil touring track were not groomed.
LE FORNET
Everything is open except the Tunnel.
The Foret and Table d’Orientation were not groomed.
PISAILLAS
Everything is open and groomed.
NURSERY SLOPE
Everything is open and groomed, including the tobogganing area.
The avalanche risk today is 2 out of 5.
It froze around dawn but there are plenty of slabs out there,
especially on the Italian border, where there was more snow recently.
If you are heading off piste – do you really know what you are doing
And where you are going? Current conditions ?
Do all your team have a beep, probe and shovel.
Know how to use them? Practised recently ?
Why not minimise the risk - ski with and learn from a mountain guide.
If you are going to Tignes, use either the Tommeuse or Borsat chairlifts.
All of our walking, multi activity and cross country tracks are open.
Top pisteur tip for today.
In the afternoon, beginners should get one of our fast comfy lifts down.
The snow is always better on the higher slopes.
Stay there until you are ready to “après”.
The warmed and chopped up snow on the lower slopes will be
similar to a thick, sticky casserole.
Even good skiers can find it tough.
Your legs will scream, and you may howl.
If it was your partners "brilliant" idea, insisting you will be “fine”,
that run may even finish your marriage!!

Back to school for the dogs.
From today until Thursday, the Savoie’s 60 avalanche dogs and their handlers
are in La Plagne refreshing and testing their skills.
All under realistic conditions, with live ‘victims’ buried deep under the snow.
Though we are pretty sure that the supervising pisteurs
will keep a keen eye, and dig out these volunteers
If the dogs fail to find them…
