WEATHER

Happy, hot, sunny skiing !

At 09.30 the temperature is already

  • +5° in the Village.
  • +6° on Solaise.
  • +8°  on Bellevarde.
  • +3° on Pisaillas.

The maximum temperature at 2000 metres will be +14°.

ROADS

No problems are expected on our village roads.

SKI REPORT

All lifts are open, and most pistes are also open and were groomed overnight.

The following are likely to close early due to the high avalanche risk.

  • L
  • Santons
  • Combe du Geant
  • Aiglon
  • Lower part of the Signal

The patrollers think carefully before closing a piste,
please don't ignore their expert knowledge.

This morning there is racing and training on the :

  • Upper part of the Orange
  • Upper part of the OK
  • 3J
  • G
  • Raye

The lower part of the Marmottons is closed due to lack of snow.

The tunnel piste is open
But remember that it is

  • Very black
  • Not groomed
  • Steep
  • Narrow
  • Bumpy

Other pistes not groomed last night are :

IN LE FORNET

  • Fôret
  • Lower part of the Signal
  • Table d'Orientation

ON SOLAISE

  • Combe Martin
  • Rhône- Alpes
  • Marmottons
  • Cugnai
  • S
  • 3000

ON BELLEVARDE

  • Joseray

The two touring tracks are still open,
but the snow is pretty thin on the lower part of the Brinzei,
which goes up la Daille.

Tignes can be accessed via the Tommeuses and  Borsat chairlifts.

The avalanche risk today is 2 out of 5.

There was a good refreeze last night,
so if you know what you are doing, and where you are going you could find some good spring snow.
But, what about skiing with a mountain guide
as they definitely know what they are doing.

All our cross county tracks and walking paths are open except :

  • Les Branges
  • Laisinant

Remember, the snow on the  lower pistes is likely to be soft and heavy once the sun has warmed it up.
Ignore what 'friends' tell you.
You can save your legs, and sense of humour by taking a lift down.

LOCAL NEWS

No weekend traffic forecast to share, as we would normally do on a Friday.
The team that count the vehicles between Albertville and Moutier
have decided that the season is over , and there are not enough visitors to cause problems on the roads.
It IS already very green in the valley !

D-Day for Léo's Invitational, in the Manchet Valley. starting at 10 am.
Our local freestyle star,  Léo Taillefer, has rounded up
50 of his finest, fittest friends to show us their skills :

  • skiing
  • snowboarding
  • paragliding
  • speed riding
  • microlighting
  • wing-suiting

Followed  this afternoon by a Circus, and
topped this evening with a concert.
There will, of course  also be refreshments.
Take the yellow shuttle bus, as the car park will quickly be full.

Our lift company needs you!
If you can be even vaguely tempted, come to their open event
09.00-17.00 today,
at at the bottom of the Olympique lift.
Find out exactly what the many and varied jobs entail.
No need to register, just turn up !

Only 10 more days to ride the slow, elderly bubble in le Fornet.
It was 'born' in 1982, and was high tech, 42 years ago.
Its grand finale is on 21st April,
then the race is on to
replace it before the beginning of next winter.
You will still be able to access the Pisaillas glacier
until we close on 5th May.
Use the Col Draglift,
after skiing Solaise and going “Up and Over” on the Leissieres chairlift
or take the 3000 draglift,
followed by the steep, bumpy, very black Tunnel piste.

Finally, this winter's French Alpine Skiing Championships finished yesterday,
with the Womens Super G in Avoriaz.
The final Men's Super G, after being cancelled in Megeve due to lack of snow,
wild winter weather stopped them racing in Tignes on Tuesday.
It is not clear whether it will now happen at all.
