  • +6° in the Village.
  • +5° on Solaise.
  • +6° on Bellevarde.
  • 0° on Pisaillas.
The maximum temperature at two thousand metres will be +12°

SKI REPORT

You are in for a great day.
Only one lift is closed and
nearly all the pistes were groomed overnight.
After many weeks, the Mont Blanc chairlift has been repaired and has opened !
So the only lift you can’t use today is the 3000 draglift on Solaise.
The team are working hard to fully clear the snow, so they don't have to keep attacking it with their shovels.
They are using high tech machines attached to big cables but it will be open tomorrow.
Therefore you won't be able to access either the 3000 or Tunnel pistes.

This morning, the Scara International Slalom has taken over the upper part of the OK and Orange,
And Super G is on the Raye.
But these pistes will all be open to everyone this afternoon.

  • L
  • Santons
  • Combe du Geant

are very, very likely to close early due to the high risk of avalanche as the snow rapidly warms up.

PLEASE don't ski down a closed run.

The following were not groomed

AT LE FORNET

  • Fôret

ON SOLAISE

  • Cugnai
  • S
  • Marmottons

ON BELLEVARDE

  • Club des Sports
  • Lower, steep, part of the Epaule du Charvet

Tignes can be accessed via the Tommeuses and  Borsat chairlifts.

The avalanche risk today is 2 out of 5.
There was a bit of a freeze but that won’t hold for long in today’s heat.

Before heading off piste :
Take a good, long, hard look at your chosen companions.
Ask yourself ….. « could they find, and dig you out quickly ? »
Any doubts ?
Stay on our beautiful pistes until you can ski with,
and learn from a mountain guide.

All our cross county tracks and walking paths are open and recently groomed except Les Branges.
It is possible that the Sources and Pont St Charles paths may close due to risk of avalanche.

LOCAL NEWS

It is Friday, so time to share news of, weekend, change-over-day traffic.......
but this is easier and easier as the season races to the end !
So just 56,000 going downhill between Moutiers and Albertville, and
2,000 less approaching us, even though it is the start of the French School Holidays.
The times to avoid, if you can, are tomorrow :
homeward bound, 09.00 - 13.00
arrivals  15.00 - 18.00
Our usual wise advice, for those with travel flexibility,
go for the double bonus of a last ski and miss the worst of the trafic before going home.
Travelling on Sunday should be easy.

Weather was kind to the Scara yesterday, so the International U14s Super G and U16s slalom went ahead.
The Marseillaise rang out loud and clear for the girls prize-giving as Manon Gellet from Les Gets won the Super G.

Val's own Jules Dufour Drai came 2nd in the U14s Super G.
Bravo Jules !
This tops a superb season where he came 1st in both the French Championship Giant slalom and Super G,
and won the ESF national Golden Rooster (Coq d'or).

Before the prize giving ceremony, the skiers and coaches representing the 43 nations paraded through town.
These included skiers from as far as Australia, South Korea, Kazakhstan and Thailand.
AND Great Britian.
The final races today are the  U14 slalom and the U16 Super G.
Today's prize-giving ceremony will take place at 14.00 at the bottom of La Daille.

We are very excited to share news of the Red Bull Alpine Park, which takes place from 26 -28th April.
This event is a mixture of Parallel slalom and « slopestyle »
which involves skiing or boarding down an obstacle course including rails, jumps and other Snowpark treats.
We have enrolled 15 World Class International skiers including
Cyprien Sarrazin, Victor Muffat Jeandet and our own Clément Noël.
Would be rude for Clément to miss it, as he is the organiser  !
Training will take place on the 26th, competitions on the 27th then on Sunday you can test YOUR skills !
So if you were wondering what they are preparing, moving snow around on Bellevarde....you now know.
Wouldn't be an end of season event without a party, or two.
We are expecting the bars and restaurants to be busy.

There was an excellent debate last night following the film "Pride".
It covered the battles, education, visibility and acceptance of our much valued LGBT community.
From 22.00 tonight there will be a party in town.
Please contact the Vie Val d'Is for details.

Twice cancelled, third time lucky....
finger and toes crossed that the predictions for the superb weather this weekend are correct
so the French Parapente championships, Flight & Ski, (Vol et Ski) can finally take place !
This  exciting  display, starting near the Marmottons piste,
will be clearly visible from the Manchet Valley and
takes place 10.30-16.00 on both Saturday and Sunday.

This will warm us up for Leo’s Event next Friday.

As we mentioned yesterday, the Tunnel piste opened on Tuesday afternoon for the first time in 15 years.
RadioVal took advantage, and their intrepid reporters nipped up there.
Check out the video !
Look at those bumps !
