Weather

After a clear start to the day cloud cover will begin to build up, resulting in a completely covered sky by the end of day. Light precipitation can be expected tonight, with up to 8 cm of snow possible. A moderate South to South-Westerly wind is predicted to pick up this afternoon, with gusts of up to 60 km/hr possible at 3000m.

A chilly start to the day out there, at 9 a.m. it is -9°C in the village, -7.5°C at the summit of Bellevarde and -14°C at Pisaillas. Today it will warm up to a top of 0°C at 2000m.

Roads

After another chaotic Saturday on the roads of Savoie, with a line of vehicles stopped between Moutiers and Albertville, traffic is expected to be more fluid today. Today in Tarentaise we expect slight slowdowns for arrivals between noon and 4 p.m., and on the way down between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. then around 6 p.m.
However, it will be nothing compared to yesterday.

Ski Report

The Pisaillas and Fornet sectors will be open, with all runs apart from the Tunnel.

Over on Solaise, everything is open, likewise on the snowfront. With the warm temperatures in the afternoon, piste L may close later this afternoon.

In the Bellevarde sector, there is racing this morning on the top sections of the OK and Orange runs and the Raye, and it will re-open to the public later in the day. The Santons may close later in the day due to rising avalanche danger. Skiing in Tignes can be accessed via both the Borsat and Tommeuse chairlifts.

Cross Country skiers and Pedestrians can choose from any of our trails and ski loops today, apart from the Branges.

The avalanche risk is 3/5 today. Always ski with a partner, have the appropriate gear and know how to use it, and if in doubt hire a guide.

Local News

It's the big day for the teams participating in the Little Big festival, as filming starts today. You have three weeks, until midnight March 17th, to shoot, edit and send your creations to the organisers. It is also today that we can announce the mystery object, which must appear in at least one shot of your video. This year, a swimsuit will have to be incorporated into your film. Speedos, boardshorts, bikinis, everything is accepted, as long as you can swim in them.
Many teams have already registered online to participate, but it's not too late to join in on the fun at; https://littlebig3.wixsite.com/festival
All films will be broadcast on a giant screen during the ceremony on March 29th at 8 p.m. at the Congress Center.
Happy shooting everyone!

Another event to come at the end of the season, the Léo's Invitational. The third edition of this great event which combines; paragliding, speed riding, ULM, skiing, snowboarding and more in the Manchet valley. An event set to take place on April 12th, on the terrace of the restaurant at the entrance to the Manchet Valley, formerly the Clocheton.
Many professional athletes will be present throughout the day for a show which promises to be unforgettable, before a final concert with the group “A la Bonheur”. All eyes on the sky from April 9th since such a show requires several days of training and practice.
All proceeds from the day will be donated to charity, the objective of Léo's Invitational has always been to raise funds for different charitys, such as 'Our little stars', 'Riders for Refugees', 'Protect our Winters' and local charity 'Dans les yeux de Gabin'.

This winter will also see the return of 'Vol et Ski'. After a successful first edition last year, held on the terrain near the Arcelles and Marmottons slopes, this competition returns again on the weekend of March 9th and 10th.
As a reminder, this is a set of precision tests in paragliding and skiing, with participants having to complete a series of obstacles during their flight before aiming for a landing target. 6 other heats have already taken place this winter in other resorts in the Alps, and Val d'Isère is hosting the French championship event.
Last year, difficult weather forced the organisers, the association “Les aigles de Val d'Isère Vol libre” to postpone. This year a postponement date is planned for March 30th and 31st.
