Weather

A beautiful winter's day out there, snow will continue to fall all day long, easing off later this afternoon. The snow-rain limit will stay down around 1400m, with an accumulation of up to 20 cm by tomorrow morning. There's a moderate Southerly wind present up high today, averaging 30-50 km/hr.
As for temperatures, at 9 a.m. it is -1°C in the village, -5°C at the top of Solaise and -10.5°C at Pisaillas. Throughout the day, we can expect a top of -2°C at 2000m.

Roads

The roads are mostly clear, and snow tires are enough to get around this morning, but that could all change during the day with the arrival of new snow.

Ski Report

10cm of fresh snow has fallen overnight in the Pisaillas area, with trace amounts elsewhere. The wind may affect the status of certain lifts throughout the day, please respect all closures across the ski area. The snowpark and various Border Cross's may be closed today due to the poor visibility.

The Pisaillas and Fornet sectors will be open, with all runs apart from the Tunnel. The Signal and Montets draglifts will open with a slight delay.

Over on Solaise, everything is open, likewise on the snowfront.

In the Bellevarde sector, there is racing this morning on the top sections of the OK and Orange runs and the Raye, and it will re-open to the public later in the day. Skiing in Tignes can be accessed via both the Borsat and Tommeuse chairlifts.

Cross Country skiers and Pedestrians can choose from any of our trails and ski loops today, apart from the Branges and the Col d'Iseran walking trails.

The avalanche risk is 3/5 today. Always ski with a partner, have the appropriate gear and know how to use it, and if in doubt hire a guide.

Local News

Following the Monday tradition, we start with the results of the young athletes of the Val d'Isère Sports Club, during the various alpine ski competitions over the last week.
The U10's Bronze Cup was held locally this weekend. The girls shone on the GS with Alice Paterson and Olivia Angus in the first two positions in race one, then on the second, Alice won again just in front of two other locals; Noélyne Favre and Olivia. In addition, Jahyanna Gonnelaz Kaufmann finished second in her category in both races yesterday.
In the boy's divisions Hector Paterson, came 2nd in the first race, and a 100% Val podium in 2015's with Marceau Deiss, Roméo Bianchi and Roméo Eliakim Bauer. Same results on second, but with different names: second place for Ridlew Swallow. Among the rookies, we find Marceau in first place, followed by Roméo Bianchi, and Edgard Plouviez.
Congratulations to all our champions, a full list of results can be found in this morning's French local news.

In other racing news, Val d'Isère Club des Sports athlete Clément Noël finished 2nd yesterday in the slalom at Palisade Tahoe in the United States. He finished 28 hundredths behind the winner Manuel Feller. Good consistency from the reigning Olympic champion with his third podium in three races, but is still chasing a victory this season.
On the GS of the day before, it was the undisputed master of the discipline, Marco Odermatt who was the fastest, ahead of Henrik Kristoffersen, and the American Radamus River.
For the ladies, the weather took its toll on the two Super G's planned for Val di Fassa in Italy. As a result there was no racing this weekend for the women.
