WEATHER

We have clouds hovering over the village this morning, but small snowflakes are falling gently and the sun is slowly waking up so we can look forward to a very sunny afternoon.

There will be a gentle North Westerly breeze this morning, though gusts of 60 km/h are possible.

The temperature dropped during the night, which is cool for our noses, but good for our snow.

Temperatures at 10.00 are

-5° in the Village.
-10° on Solaise.
-15° on Pisaillas.
Maximum Temperature expected is -11 ° at 2000 meters.

ROAD

The roads in Val are covered with snow  but driving shouldn't be a problem if your car is suitably equipped.
If you don't have snow tyres, or your car is not a four wheel drive, chains or 'tyre socks' are highly recommeded particularly to stop you slipping into anyone else.
Yesterday evening there was an avalanche which covered part of the road to Bourg St Maurice, near Villaret des Brevieres, but the area that was blocked is now fully open.

SKI REPORT

It is FRIDAY so here is the traffic info for the coming weekend.
60,000 vehicles are expected to come up the hill between now and Sunday, and 59,000 are homeward bound, as measured between Moutiers and Albertville.
No problems today, or Sunday – the traffic should be moving freely all day as long as people drive sensibly and there are no accidents.
However tomorrow………traffic is expected to be slow moving with traffic jams and intermittent but complete "stops"...... coming up the hill, between 09.00 and 11.00 and then between 14.00 and 18.00.
The traffic downhill will be spread out over the day, although it may be slow between 10.00 and 13.00 and again towards 18.00.

The final concert of the 30th Classicaval Festival was a triumph.
A very interesting program with several works by ‘four hands’ (duets - 2 pianists using the same piano) highlighted with jazz by pianist Charles Heisser.
The Grand Finale was the Carnival of Animals and involved all the Festivals many and talented musicians.
The three concerts, held in our ornate, Baroque, Church, were enjoyed by more than 660 music lovers.
Before yesterday's concert, as has become a tradition, Val d’Isère’s primary school children were treated to a  fun meeting with the musicians, to learn more about the world of music.
This year we concentrated on the similarities between music and sport and the discussions were led by the musicians Anne Lise Gastaldi, Diana Ligeti et Charles Heisser along with Ingrid Jacquemod (downhill ski champion and Director of the Club des Sports), Lucie Palz – (Freerider, journalist and author of the book ‘Born to Ski’ which describes the careers of several female skiers)
Tempo, rhythm, don’t miss a note (or gate), to training and the importance of preparation before a concert or race, to stage fright, and the importance of learning from failure.

Watch the video on our website.

Classicaval returns on the 12th March, a long seven weeks to wait…….but, you can be prepared, and book your tickets online.
